What to Wear: Summer Soiree...

Summer parties are kicking off. This week is all about sourcing easy outfits for afternoon events by (although likely not actually in) the pool. The foundation is a great maxi dress. The rest is easy: oversized sunglasses, SPF to spritz onto bared skin and some form of pretty sandals. I like to do a messy low bun with side swept bangs and keep makeup simple but pretty.

The above look is a great one if you have a special summer soiree to attend this coming week. You can't go wrong with a floral DVF dress and statement jewelry. Finish with an intoxicating summer scent (not too heavy, mind you!) and you're out the door. Ciao!

Luxe Accommodations: Amazing Grace in Turks & Caicos...

This is the type of property I don't just want to visit, I want to own it. I want to revel in the joys of having it as my own. Isn't she gorgeous? The Villa, aptly named Amazing Grace is absolutely stunning. While there are no shortage of properties to stay at along the shores of Grace Bay, most of them swing either ultra-mod or traditional tropical in design. Frankly I love those styles when I'm vacationing. It is a nice contrast to my daily living space and a feast for the eyes. But when I spotted this villa listed as a rental, my jaw fell open. This one is absolutely a stunner and falls into the "Pack your bags, we're leaving now" category. Love at first sight.

Still reeling from the inspiration, I couldn't wait to share the gallery images with you. Hellooooo, tropical haven I'd never want to leave. New life goal... own this property or one of the same caliber and enjoy it whenever it isn't being rented out to fellow wanderlusters like myself. #lifegoals

I have a friend headed to Turks & Caicos, where this beauty resides, and I'm helping her plan her wardrobe for the stay. Care to pack your virtual bags with me as we tour this ultra-plush pad? Let's do it...

What to Wear: Channeling Effortless Island Style...

I've just finished reading the latest India Hicks book, Island Style, and it not only transported me to a breezier, more relaxed way of living, it has inspired me to loosen up my approach to spring and summer dressing.

A kaftan is surely necessary. In fact, after this brutal winter (yes, even here in the south it was punishing by our standards) I'm eschewing the idea of any restrictive clothing. My mission: dresses & skirts all day every day. With one exception: culottes. My summer fashion edict is t approach the season with easy, breezy style that perhaps - just maybe - can help me channel some of India's unfussy approach to glamour. Think: Calypso St. Barths and you've nailed it.

With this you'll see I've found the PERFECT summer tote. And I do mean perfect. Leave it to Tory to absolutely nail the straw tote. Pair it with these amazing metallic espadrilles and you are ready for the resort, the corner cafe or a fun afternoon out and about.

And of course, no belle du jour look is complete without a sun-kissed glow on your beaming visage. I love a good bronzer-blush duo to give my face a milk dusting of bronzy-peachy goodness. Gloss up legs with a good gel to get that coveted gleaming gams look. Finish with a swipe of balm in the most delicious shade of tropical punch. You. Are. Done.

Above are few more dresses to help you channel that vacation state of mind - even if it's Monday. I like them simple and swingy, but figure flattering too. And while I chiefly choose solids, a few prints are fun to mix it up.

What to Wear: Weekend Escape to Laguna's Montage...

One great thing about having close girlfriends with similar taste? They ask me what to pack for their upcoming trips. One such bestie is headed out to a personal favorite spot: Laguna Beach. Ahhhh, California living epitomized at the stylish Montage Hotel. Yes, darling, I can definitely pack your getaway bag for you!

First, let's scope out the scene. The Montage is known for its unobstructed views of the Pacific, five-star culinary experiences and incredible spa. Did I mention the gorgeous suites? This is an ideal spot to escape with your partner and let the sound of the crashing waves below & palm tree fronds above take all your cares away. California dreaming? Definitely. So let's get on with the business of mapping out this weekend wardrobe, shall we?

The vibe? Relaxed yet chic. Elegantly undone. It's the west coast, after all. The mood? Sunny & romantic in a quietly upscale way. The look? A versatile mix of flowy pieces that will take her from poolside chaise to reservations at 8:00 looking flawless and feeling free. So... let's get down to the business of packing, shall we?

  • First rule: versatility is key. Select pieces that pack easily and play nicely with others.
  • Rule two: no iron is the best iron. Think: jersey knits or linen items that embrace the crinkled look.
  • Rule three: When in doubt, go for the gold. Metallic accessories elevate even a simple black slip-on dress. Embrace them.
  • Finally: less is more. Fewer colors + fewer pieces = fewer decisions + a more enjoyable trip

Net-a-Porter Travel Set // Eres Black Essentials Suit // Saint Laurent Metallic Clutch or Shoulder Bag

The result? Simple outfits that take you from day to night with the simple change of a shoe (graduating to higher heels for night) and swapping the necklace for the sunnies as the sun sets. Boss move? Slip a chic clutch into your tote for maximum versatility and pull it out for after dark glamour. And do NOT forget the sunscreen ladies! (Here's my choice via Omorovicza). Happy travels! xoxo

What to Wear: New Year & Beyond...

New Year's Eve

Oh, holiday glamour! One of the perks of being a girly girl is the opportunity to dress up. The key is to not overthink your look. Keep your regular vibe and just add a bit more verve, a bit more shimmer and a bit more shine. Love a faux fur jacket? Rock it with a sparkly dress on NYE and jeans next weekend. A gold clutch is just as killer with denim as lace. Diamond (or faux diamond!) stud earrings pair just as well with your yoga mat as they do high heels. And that gold clutch? You know you want it for those nights out and for special occasions. Invest in classic keepers and you'll never, ever regret it.

The key here, ladies? Wear what makes you FEEL good. It might be your favorite black skinnies or even a fuzzy blush sweater that drapes just right off the shoulders. It might just be a fragrance that makes you feel like a bombshell. If it makes you feel gorgeous, wear it! Here's what I'm loving for New Year's Eve which will easily slide into the wardrobe to mix & match with other staples throughout the year.

What to Wear: Spectacular Holiday Party Shoes...

It's all about the accessories, girls. You can wear the most basic black dress and style it properly and be the enviable belle of the ball - so long as those accessories are on point. Asked by a very close girlfriend to suggest holiday party shoes, I thought it best to offer that same wisdom here. Ready ladies? Let's get to steppin...

Some of you love your stilts (raising hand) and want to lengthen those legs as much as possible. My five foot tall frame (and six-foot personality) is with you. Let's review my current favorite sky high heel options with price points for all to enjoy:

This particular friend requested some not so tipsy teetering heels, and I can't blame her. It's tough to mix and mingle for hours on end when you're struggling to maintain your balance. No one wants to look as though she's has a touch to many flutes of bubbly at the holiday fête. For those of you who share her love of solid (yet fabulous) footwear, may I suggest the following...

See girls, style and investment levels for everyone. Although I will say my suggestion is to go for it and snag yourself a pair of these and call it a most happy day. After all, you only have one chance to make a first impression.

These Jimmy Choo Anouk dégradé glitter-finished leather pumps have my name written all over them & I hope Santa baby thinks of me when he's tossing these in his red bag this year. Happy holiday shoe shopping, everyone!

What to Wear: Your Flawless Holiday Party Look...

Whether you're a private jet to Ibiza kind of girl or a night in with friends, getting dolled up for the holidays is just part of our genetic makeup. We love it. We live for it. We embrace it. If you're looking for the PERFECT outfit to take you from dusk 'til dawn, this is surely it. A feminine frock, dazzling heels, a timeless clutch and gold & crystal J. Crew earrings.

The dress will be an investment, yes. But I am sure you'll seek out more opps to wear this amazing LBD. The accessories will all be just as chic at your lazy next day brunch with jeans and a simple white tee. Classic investments and unbelievable pieces to usher out the old and ring in the new.

What to Wear: Modern Luxe Cocktail Party Dressing...

Fashion rules may change, but good taste transcends all trends. For those of you with important holiday events to attend, the type where your sartorial know-how and table-etiquette will be judged, consider the no-fail combination of black and gold. Start with a statement dress and let it be the true star of the show. Black lace with burnished gold sequins in a flattering sleeveless silhouette make this a frock that dazzles. Pair with classic gold heels and a matching clutch. Just to make things a bit less predictable, I love the idea of adding a bold leather cuff and cut black glass earrings. Walk in wearing this (and a mani-pedi in the most pure shade of ballerina pink polish) and all questions about your impeccable taste will be answered instantly.

What to Wear: Dinner in the City of Light...

Whether you're chasing your dream of living in that perfect Paris flat or you're simply in France for the week, appearances matter. Dressing affects how you feel and how you feel impacts your experience. Simply put: plan those outfits ahead of time and invest in classics that you'll wear again and again.

For this imaginary date night (or night with the girls) in Paris I envision no less than a stunning black embroidered dress, some vintage Chanel (you expected otherwise?) and a few key accessories.

The dress: hand embroidered in India with layers of tulle. Needle & Thread makes attainably priced pieces you'll love for many years to come. This dress is no exception.

Shoes: who can resist the siren call of Saint Laurent? Alas, the price tag means they are not in the cards for everyone. Why not explore Ivanka's stunning collection or SJP's that make dressing in style affordable and downright chic.

Chanel! Yes, yes, yes... there will be some black leather in your life. Why not peruse some vintage options for pieces with a bit of an interesting backstory? They make for great conversations starters, but are also often very special and meaningful investments.

Scent: Whether you're creating romance or simply out for creating memories of a lovely night on the town, a signature scent will always transport you back to this magical night. Why not pay homage to one of the city's most iconic brands by spritzing on this modernized version of a Chanel fragrance.

Finishing details matter most. Consider the chic chignon your go-to hairstyle for this memorable night. With so much sparkle elsewhere, keep it simply by dressing up your lobes with Swarovski crystal Ben Amun earrings. Fabulousness that's not overdone (but still stand-out fabulous).

Your best wardrobe weapon? A attitude of insouciance. You belong at the most marvelous table. Act the part. Dress the part. Feel the part. Soak in the wonder of Paris. Make the night magical and don't even think of going to bed early. The night is young.

What to Wear: Late Night Dinner in Marrakesh...

In a previous post we explored the exotic La Mamounia in faraway Marrakesh. A hotel with an excess of Moroccan flair and an enchanted atmosphere. Now... onto the serious business of what to wear to dinner under the stars in the open air garden. With neat rows of swaying palms, a warm breeze and the faint sounds of Moroccan life all around, you'll love a look that is bold and sexy while still harboring plenty of mystery.

I found this incredible Norma Kamali gown, which I think would be perfect for drinks on the terrace & a dinner date. Add shimmering shadow on the eyes (Tom Ford does it best), spectacular shoes and a standout bangle (in gold, no less!) and you're out the door for a memorable dinner under the African stars. Don't forget to be a hit heavy-handed with the eyeliner for added glam. Add these beautiful elements to your suitcase to ensure you bring your own exotic charms on your next getaway.

What to Wear: Luxurious Outfits for the Festive Season...

If a girl were to dream of head-to-toe Dolce&Gabbana as the answer to all my sartorial needs this holiday season (and this girl has), she'd be grinning ear to ear like Sophia Loren. In the spirit of all things la dolce vita, I've styled three fabulous ensembles to inspire your look for every fête you've RSVP'd to this month. A little leopard, a lot of unbridled luxe and the undeniable glamour of an Italian bombshell. Wear it well, lovelies! The season of celebrating awaits!

An evening at the Nutcracker just became more interesting. A red hot coat, a dreamy bag and the LBD to end all LBDs. This is an outfit that commands box seats and stellar views of the scene unfolding below. It will make those holiday selfies even more stunning.

Medium Sicily Tote in Leopard // Scooped V-Neck Dress // Double Breasted Coat /Bellucci Pumps

For fun with those you love the most, keep it simple yet slightly upgraded. Distressed jeans get a boost with rosy embroidery. A black turtleneck benefits from sky high boots (best left for indoor affairs) and a colorful scarf. Headed out for more supplies? Don't skip out on the opportunity to stay warm in a long single-breasted coat with beautiful oversized bejeweled buttons and faux fur trim. Who says laid-back luxe can't be absolutely fabulous?

Roll Neck Sweater // Rose Patch Boyfriend Jeans // Perforated Dolce Shoulder Bag // Stiletto Booties // Single Breasted Coat // Mixed Print Scarf

Nailing the "mingle with the boss" look can be tricky, but a few simple guidelines make it less daunting. Keep it simple. Keep it classy. Keep it comfortable. Add a conversation starter to the ensemble. This will help you work the room, shine like the beacon of light you are and setting the stage for future success.

Fitted long-sleeve dress // Fringed-trim coat // Sicily Hands-Free Tote // Embroidered Pumps

I hope your season has been merry and bright! If not, perhaps this post will inspire you to add a little verve to your look during the holidays and beyond. Think: embroidered details, spectacular buttons, unexpectedly fabulous details. It's the smallest of accents that turn a look into a seriously stylish affair. For more major looks, visit Farfetch's amazing selection of Dolce&Gabbana goodies. And yes, many of them are on sale. Merry Christmas to YOU!

What to Wear: Channeling Your Inner Luxe Boho Babe...

We're not talking festival gear here. Think: a modern day Brigitte Bardot as Mara Hoffman's muse and you get the idea. I touched upon the idea in a previous post, but today's topic all about how to wear it. A breezy floor-grazing kaftan. Shimmery bronzer. Statement rings. And... of course, a head wrap. I can't get enough of this look and - left to my own devices - would dress the part all day every day.

Love that bronzed glow but trying to save your precious skin from the ravages of the sun? Me too. Check out my beauty series on mineral sunscreens and achieving that coveted St. Tropez glow for body and face. Up soon: a post on safe (and essential) exfoliation that is my current obsession for revealing smoother, fresher and more healthy looking skin. In the meantime... happy summering, lovelies!

What to Wear: Easter Sunday...

Oh, Easter. It sneaks up on me every year much like spring. It's cold & dreary for weeks on end and then suddenly *boom!* tulips are in bloom and the season of pretty pastels and decorated eggs is upon us. So now the question of what to wear.

As fashion loving women we wake up with two choices every day: to start with the shoes or not. Some days it's all about those pretty pink pumps. Other days the look begins with my outfit. Easter, mind you, is the perfect opportunity to sport pretty lace or eyelet dresses, floral heels or even bubble gum pink peep-toe patent pumps. The world is literally your oyster and you've been given a temporary hall pass to dress as sweetly as you like. It's your brunch-going duty, in fact to look girly and represent the season. With that, here are a few of my favorite pieces (and beauty counter extras) to ring in the season of bouquets with blooming aplomb.

Whether you begin with fab footwear or a dress you've been eager to wear, you'll appreciate that all of the dresses above are less than $200. For me it's all about investing in top quality accessories but saving where possible on less frequently worn pieces. Shoes should be the best money can buy. Handbags, it goes without saying, are investment pieces. But dresses can be loads of fun and don't have to break the bank.

Happy Spring to everyone. May your season be filled with flowers and fun!

What to Wear: Snow Bunny Chic...

{image via  Pinterest }

{image via Pinterest}

Ski pro or not, the St. Regis Aspen offers snow-capped views and high altitude scenery to lure even the most jaded winter traveler out of her cozy bed. I may not be hitting the black diamond slopes, but I do love indulging in fireside cocoa, taking in the mountain views and enjoying the rustic luxe lodge appeal of places covered in perfect white powder.

Whether you're inclined to hit the slopes or not, there's a lot to be said for ski-inspired fashion. Let's start with the ultimate winter wardrobe staple: the black fur-trimmed puffer coat. Trust me here: you want to invest in the best quality available to you, as the warmth and the annual wear it provides will be well worth it.

In my opinion, Moncler is the go-to brand for all things down-filled and snow bunny chic. But this year the source for my favorite winter coat surprised even me. Burberry. The maker of the world's most iconic trench also makes this absolutely perfect belted version of the puffer coat that does as much for your figure as it does for keeping you toasty & warm.

Burberry Puffer Coat // Bernardo Quilted Goose Down Walker // Rud by Rudsak Fur Trimmed Puffer Coat

Next, assuming you're in proximity to a ski lift, you'll need the usual cool climate accoutrements. A knitted beanie to keep your noggin warm. Well-designed ski pants in on trend colorblock for comfort and compliments from fellow downhillers. Warm shearling lined boots to save your precious toes from the cold.  A thin thermal top for layering and wicking away moisture

Madeline Thompson Cashmere Beanie // Lecroix Aspen Stretch Ski Pants // Falke Stretch System Top // Jimmy Choo Shearling Lined Boots

Now... if, like me, you're not in driving distance of snow-capped mountains and the closest you'll be to a lodge hearth is the warmth of your own fireplace, these next pieces are for you. I personally love the Bond girl appeal of that certain Alpine chic look. Think: wrap around glasses and a fur-collared coat in the most yummy shade of cream. Add in to-die-for boots and you've achieved what I deem to be the epitome of snow bunny chic. And isn't that a look we all crave in winter?

Tom Ford Ekaterina Shield Sunglasses // Fur Trimmed Cape // Gorski Apres Ski Puffer // Fendi Fur Trimmed Ankle Boots

Top if off with my favorite hot cocoa, sugar cookies & you're all set for bundled up winter fun.

What to Wear: Understated New Year's Luxe...

{image via  Pinterest }

{image via Pinterest}

The 31st is sneaking up on us faster than you can say "Bonne année" and it's time to seriously consider what you'll be wearing. While it's easy to think the world is like Queen Bey's jetset lifestyle, the truth is most of us will have our heels (and wheels) on the ground on New Year's Eve.

So... what to wear? I like the idea of luxe looks with maximum ease. Think: spectacular heels with skinny jeans and a touch of sparkle via a magnificent black chiffon silk blouse. Magnificent earrings round out the look but it's a mesmerizing statement clutch that finishes the look. Hair? Perhaps a chic chignon or the requisite miles of waves look that has become the golden standard.

The key here is luxurious pieces grounded by denim that feels like your favorite pair. It says you dressed to play but and can be at home just as easily in the VIP room as you could in a friend's living room. It's a look I love and you, my dear, will get more than your average mileage out of this look.

Alice + Olivia Warok Shrug

Me? Even when going low-key I like to boost the look up a bit. An extra dose of glamour never hurt a girl! Try something along the lines of this chic rabbit fur shrug. Whether you're dancing the night away or sitting by the fire, this glam little piece gets you from curb to car looking oh-so-fabulous and just cozy enough to keep warm. And let's face it: fur is fabulous.

Wherever New Year's Eve takes you, have fun, be safe and ring in the new year with people who make you happy. xoxo!

What to Wear: Shimmer & Shine on New Year's Eve...

Well hello there, shimmering chic holiday outfit! To say I'm in love is an understatement. I am a huge Alice + Olivia fan, and this pair of separates will have longevity long after the matching top/bottom trend has faded. How, you ask? Pair that crop top with skinny denim and heels or a long black pencil skirt for instant chic. The skirt is an instant closet workhorse that pairs just as well with a white tee and black jacket as it does with a ruffled blouse. I absolutely love separates as investment pieces. Those with enduring style built in go a long way towards working themselves into my closet. :)

So... how will you wear these for New Year's Eve? Allow me to guide you through your ring in the new year look:

Jimmy Choo Patent Pumps // Louboutin Classic Pumps // Gianvito Rossi Pumps

Here's where you'll need to exercise some restraint. Resist the urge to pile on the jewels, ladies. The outfit IS the jewel. Consider how you'll wear your hair. I say opt for a spectacular bracelet OR cocktail ring and some ridiculous earrings.

Alexis Bittar Miss Havisham Earrings // Lele Sadoughi Pave Link Bracelet // Byredo Bal D'Afrique Eau de Parfum // Tom Ford Blush Nude Lipstick

So now your top to bottom look for ringing in the new year is completely solved. What to do? That's up to you. All you need to focus on is looking flawless and feeling like a million bucks - the perfect event will present itself. All of these pieces will have mileage far and beyond the holiday season, so although most are moderately consider them to be investment pieces. Don't forget the lipstick & fragrance - those two alone will have you walking in the room like you own it. Now... go book those plans!

What to Wear: Desk to Dinner Date...

Navigating daytime to dinner date looks is normally a sizable feat. Thankfully we're in full on "girl power" mode in terms of fashion lately, so transitioning from "meeting chic" to after dark damsel is simple:

A fabulous blush blouse, a flirty skirt and d"Orsay pumps balance the line between babe and business brainiac. Add accessories that simply accentuate your good looks and you're halfway there.

My favorite fashion "trick" is to tuck an eye-catching clutch into my daytime tote. It keeps you organized and makes bouncing out the door for that date a snap. Personal beauty tip: reapply nude lip and add a spritz of your favorite fragrance just before heading out. You'll look and feel positively radiant.

What to Wear: Late Summer Getaway...

Finally... an escape from the city. What to pack for a short trip out of town? A maxi, simple (yet glam) gold thong sandals and just a few pretty essentials. Overpacking is a burden and actually makes dressing more of a chore. With a less is more mentality, here's what to bring for a quick getaway.

What to Wear: Summer Resort on the Côte d'Azur...

What to pack for doing very little in the Côte d'Azur is quite simple. Flowing goddess gowns, Pucci-esque coverups & embellished jumpsuits over a bathing suit, sparkling sandals, big sunglasses, perhaps a hat & pretty bracelets. That's it. You'll need a gorgeous carry-on to tote the goods. But the emphasis here is always on elegant simplicity. Less can be more when those items you do take are spectacular.
